We have developed a product designed for elderly individuals and people with reduced physical abilities. When a fully able person falls, they can usually get up by themselves, even if it requires some effort. However, in the same situation, a person with limited mobility is often unable to get up without assistance. They may need to call someone strong enough to help them up safely, or even contact emergency services — a solution that can be complicated and stressful. Moreover, if a person living alone falls at home, they may not have their phone within reach, and the situation can quickly become dangerous.

That’s why I designed an innovative product that allows anyone to get up almost independently.

Powered by air pressure, this device slides easily under the person on the floor (thickness of about 2 inches). Once in place, simply turn on the pump: the air injected into the upper part of the product allows the person to get into a sitting position in less than a minute. Then, by inflating the second part, the person moves from a sitting position on the floor to a sitting position at a height of approximately 2 inches—which is higher than a chair or stool—allowing them to get up effortlessly.
